Royal baby Archie's birth certificate revealed
Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor’s official birth certificate has been released, 11 days after his birth on May 6, 2019, and it reveals the Duchess of Sussex gave birth at the private Portland Hospital in Westminster, 24 miles from her home in Windsor.
While there were rumors that Meghan wanted to have a home birth, the certificate disproves the mumblings.
A basic delivery at the private institution costs around $19,000 at the maternity hospital.
The hospital issued a statement congratulating the new parents on their son: “Huge congratulations to the Duke and Duchess of Sussex on the birth of baby Archie. For reasons of patient confidentiality, we are unable to provide any comment or information.”
The certificate also confirms Archie’s name is Archie, not Archibald, and lists the full names of his parents — His Royal Highness Henry Charles Albert David Duke of Sussex (who goes by the nickname “Harry”) and Rachel Meghan Markle (who goes by her middle name).
Their occupations are listed as Prince of the United Kingdom and Princess of the United Kingdom.
The couple’s home of Frogmore Cottage, Windsor Castle, is listed as their address.
Archie isn’t the only famous individual to have been born at Portland Hospital.
The Duchess of York welcomed both of her daughters, Princess Beatrice (1988) and Princess Eugenie (1990) at the Portland Hospital.
It’s also where Victoria Beckham gave birth to sons Brooklyn and Romeo.
