Royal Bachelors You Need to Meet Now That Prince Harry Is Taken
On Nov. 27, Prince Harry announced he was officially off the market and had proposed to American actress Meghan Markle. (If you haven't heard, she said yes).
While royal fans the world over were certainly pleased with the news, they also likely experienced just a tiny bit of sadness in knowing that their chance of becoming a princess, however small it might have been, was now gone.
But fear not, as there are still plenty of royal bachelors to go around. Keep scrolling to learn more about five of the world’s most eligible royal men, and a little bit about where you’d be living if you ever got to pull a Meghan Markle and move abroad for an epic love story.
Crown Prince Hamdan of Dubai
Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, lovingly known as “Fazza,” is ready to steal your heart on social media. The 34-year-old royal has a staggering 5.9 million followers on Instagram, and for good reason. His feed is filled with his adventures, including cave diving, training falcons, and spending time with the charities he cares about most.
If you were to become Fazza’s bride, you’d spend most of your time in Dubai, a multi-cultural city filled with something for just about everyone including skyscrapers hitting unimaginable heights, world class shopping and dining, and more. Just be warned: Dubai can be very, very hot all year round.
Crown Prince Hussein of Jordan
Crown Prince Hussein is one seriously impressive young royal. As Cosmopolitan noted, in 2015, at the tender age of 20, he became the youngest person to ever chair a UN Council. Just one year later in 2016 he graduated from Georgetown University with a degree in international history. In 2017 he made another UN appearance, this time in New York City, where he delivered Jordan’s speech at the UN General Assembly.
If you joined forces with Hussein you’d then become the Princess of Jordan, where you’d be lucky enough to have Queen Rania as a mother-in-law. There, you could also go diving in the Red Sea, check out ancient architectural sites, and eat some of the best desserts in the world.
Prince Albert of Thurn and Taxis
Travel + Leisure isn’t the only publication writing about Prince Albert. You know who else is? Forbes, because the German royal is on their list of World’s Richest Billionaires year after year. In fact, his net worth comes in at a cool $3.8 billion. Not that money really matters when it comes to love. Albert’s assets, Forbes reported, include plenty of real estate and 36,000 hectares of woodland in Germany.
When he’s not racing cars, he typically spends his time in the family castle in Bavaria, Schloss Emmeram. There, you can spend your days checking out other gothic-inspired buildings or take a quick 50-minute drive and be in the heart of downtown Munich.
Prince Joachim of Belgium
The 25-year-old Prince Joachim keeps a rather low profile for a Millennial royal, which may be one of the most attractive things about him. Instead, the young prince focuses his time on his studies. Joachim, who is ninth in line to the Belgian throne, studied in England and Milan, where he received a degree in international economics, management, and finance. Following his formal education he joined the Nautical School in Brugge and became an officer in the Belgian Navy.
If you were to date the Belgian prince you’d likely spend plenty of time in his home country. And though Belgium is small, it’s packed to the brim with cultural activities and the world’s premiere Christmas markets (not to mention some of the world’s best beer).
Prince Mateen of Brunei
Prince Mateen is yet another Insta-famous young royal with more than 700,000 Instagram followers. There, he shares pictures from his daily life including working out, playing polo, spending time with family, and just giving off dreamy vibes. Oh, and Mateen, like Prince Albert, is set to inherit part of his family’s $20 billion fortune. The 26-year-old graduated in 2016 from the University of London with a Master of Arts in International Studies and Diplomacy.
And you definitely wouldn't mind hanging out in Brunei, where you can stroll along pristine shores together or go adventuring in the country’s biodiverse rainforest.
