In case you were wondering: The royals are, as ever, spiraling about Prince Harry’s memoir. Royal author Tom Bower (who wrote the dramatically titled book Revenge: Meghan, Harry, and the War Between the Windsors) tells Page Six that Harry’s upcoming memoir is a “time bomb” that has the royals “hugely nervous.”
And while there have been reports that Harry is hoping to edit the memoir in the wake of his grandmother Queen Elizabeth II’s passing, apparently Bower says it’s not possible at this point in the publication process.
“I think that everybody knows that the Sussexes can’t amend the book in any way,” he explains. “Can they make it nastier? Because otherwise, we wouldn’t get sales.”
Prince Harry’s memoir was originally going to drop this fall (in time for holiday sales), but it’s now being pushed back to 2023. Bower says the target publication date is currently Easter, and the book is expected to include a chapter on the Queen’s funeral and “material about how they were snubbed.”
Meanwhile, the Sussexes are also in the process of editing their upcoming docuseries, which Netflix had reportedly hoped to drop in December. But Page Six recently reported that Harry and Meghan are “keen to take out or downplay” much of what they’ve said about royals—specifically King Charles, Queen Camilla, Prince William, and Kate Middleton.
“A lot of conversations are happening,” a source told the outlet. “I hear that Harry and Meghan want the series to be held until next year, they want to stall. I wonder if the show could even be dead in the water at this point—do Harry and Meghan just want to shelve this thing?”
Meghan briefly spoke about the docuseries during an interview with The Cut, saying, “The piece of my life I haven’t been able to share, that people haven’t been able to see, is our love story.” The duchess added that she hopes “love wins” is “the sentiment that people feel when they see any of the content or the projects that we are working on.”
