Today in people talking about Meghan Markle (when they really don't need to be talking about Meghan Markle), an apparent "good friend of the royals" has apparently called the Duchess of Sussex's family "frightfully common."

The "good friend" in question is interior designer and cabaret singer Nicky Haslam, whose royal-adjacent credentials The Daily Mail describes as follows:

"Born to one of Queen Victoria's goddaughters, Haslam socialised with Princess Diana, has worked for Prince Charles, and once sang in front of the Queen."

Make of that what you will! Speaking with the Mail on the subject of the royals - which, realistically, "good friends" of the family don't tend to do! - Haslam took aim at the Meghan Markle's family. "They’re frightfully common," he said (with one exception, Meghan's mom Doria Ragland), adding that "it would have been awful" if Meghan's father Thomas, who he them body-shames, had been in attendance. Haslam was not at the wedding either, just FYI.

Haslam could have just dropped the mic and walked away there, but nope! He continued to speculate on how the royal family is dealing with the Markle family's behavior both in the run-up to Meghan and Prince Harry's wedding, as well as since: "The royals probably don’t quite know how to deal with them," Halsam added.

Oh, and Haslam also took the opportunity to comment on Meghan's wedding dress. Guess what? He "didnt very much like [it]," go figure. "It didn’t fit, among other things," he told the Mail. "It should have been made of thinner stuff, it seemed to be made of concrete."

For what it's worth, however, the royal family is reportedly frustrated with Thomas Markle's after his recent round of interviews, and Meghan reportedly hasn't spoken to her father since the day after her wedding.

"Thomas adores his daughter and swears he never wanted attention from the interviews," a source close to Thomas Markle told Us Weekly. "All he’s ever cared about is protecting Meghan. He wants the royals to stand by his side, but of course so far they haven’t."
