They grow up so fast. Royal Getty photographer Chris Jackson has documented Prince Harry, one of the world’s most eligible bachelors, for years, which is why Monday was particularly sentimental for the man behind the lens.

In a new interview with Town & Country, Jackson—who got married this past summer—revealed his favorite moment from Harry and Meghan Markle’s engagement photo call held at the Kensington Palace Gardens. The snapshot, a particularly giddy image of the duo, shows Markle grinning as she shows off her sparkling new ring from the prince.

“People use the phrase ‘happy couple’ but these two looked absolutely on top of the world as they posed for photographs, poignantly in the sunken garden at Kensington Palace, one of Princess Diana’s favourite places and a stunning location to choose for today,” Jackson mused. “In this picture Meghan just looks so happy as she holds tight on to her fiance’s arm displaying her impressive engagement ring, designed by Prince Harry and using diamonds from Princess Diana’s collection.”

The fifth in line to the British royal throne proposed several weeks ago while roasting chicken with Markle in the comfort of Nottingham Cottage. Harry thoughtfully designed the ring himself, using one large center stone from Botswana and two smaller diamonds from his late mother’s collection.

“It’s beautiful and he designed it,” Markle said to BBC News. “I think everything about Harry’s thoughtfulness and the inclusion of that… to not be able to meet his mom, to know that she’s a part of this with us.”

The next year will be particularly celebratory for the British royal family, according to Jackson. “It’s a great feeling to have a ‘feel good’ story like this,” he mused. “And the promise of a royal baby AND a wedding in 2018 certainly excites a royal photographer such as myself!”

Indeed, Prince William and Kate Middleton are expecting their third child together, due next April. The following month, Harry and Markle are expected to wed at Windsor Castle in what’s believed to be a global televised spectacle. Markle recently wrapped her final season of Suits, and she will focus on representing the Commonwealth on behalf of causes she holds close to her heart.

“I don’t see it as giving anything up. I see it as a change,” she said in her BBC interview. “Also keep in mind, I’ve been working on my show for seven years. We were very very fortunate to have that longevity.. once we hit the 100 episode mark, I thought, ‘I have hit this mark.’
