Rumer Willis Admits She's 'Really Missing' Bruce Amid His Health Battle
Rumer and Bruce Willis
Rumer Willis is opening up about one of the harder parts of watching her father Bruce Willis live with frontotemporal dementia.
The mother of one, 35, shared a sweet throwback photo on Instagram on Monday, Nov. 20, where she admitted, "Really missing my papa today. ??."
In the sweet snap, which we're guessing was taken around the summer of 1989, based on how old she appears to be, a shirtless Willis, then about 34, smiled in delight as he held a toddler-aged Rumer in just one arm. She wore a white sleeveless dress and matching headband with a flower and sucked on her right pinky finger as she looked at something out of the frame.
Many fans who have been through something similar with members of their own family rushed to sympathize with Rumer.
"There is nothing worse missing them while being with them! Heart wrenching!" one wrote. "I've been thru it. Stay strong for him....he's in there somewhere and loves you immensely!??????."
"….my Dad also suffered from it & passed 8 years ago…." another shared, suggesting, "Just hold on to all the beautiful memories ??????."
"Hugs. It’s an odd kind of hard to miss someone who is still here," another empathized. "Dementia is a cruel beast. ??."
The family has been incredibly open about Bruce's diagnosis, his decline in health, and the days when it hits them the hardest. While not everyone understands their decision to do so, they're glad to be able to raise awareness for FTD and hope that research leads to a cure someday.
