Running has made me physically and mentally healthier while giving me a better vision and representation about what life’s about. Day to day I have a plan and goals which I try to accomplish and running really helps me get those done.

I joined Runner’s World to learn more about running and connect more with the running community. I love the resources offered by RW+ and I like to stay abreast of all the latest trends, gear, gadgets, training advice, and news.

Running is my meditation. After being a smoker of 15 years, I needed something to take its place. Running did that for me! It is that which allows me to undo myself of the stress of the day, the stresses of life. If I’ve had a difficult day at work, a trying time at home, and I find myself uptight or on edge, I put on my favorite running. Taking those first perhaps tentative steps in the first of my many miles, I feel the weight of the day begin to fall away. As I take the curves and climb the hills, I feel the sweat drip from my face, the sweat running down the middle of my back, and myself letting go the detritus of the day. I run because it helps me to be the best man I can be. No matter what baggage I take to the running trail, no matter what weight rests upon my shoulders, with each mile the baggage becomes less, the weight becomes easier to bear, and a better husband goes home to my wife, a better father goes home to my son. This is why I run.

My favorite time to run is early morning, but I also run a lot in the afternoon. The San Antonio area has a lot of very good running trails, but my favorite is the 7 mile Blue Loop trail at McAllister Park. The quiet and peaceful trail makes me feel free and at ease.

My favorite item to run with is my phone. Not for calls, because I do not answer them when I am on a run. I enjoy if for the security; no headphones required when I am listening to my music and it is easily accessible.

My favorite NFL team is the Pittsburgh Steelers and I live in Texas!

To improve my times, running technique, and to constantly accomplish all my goals.
