Running has strengthened my self confidence, and allowed me to meet others who are different from me in many ways but who share my passion for running. It has allowed me to achieve a high level of fitness and provide constructive channels for discipline and competitiveness. It is also a cherished shared passion for my husband, Dan, and me. Training for and running in marathons and other races together has added an exciting new dimension to our marriage.
RW+ is the ultimate source for all things related to running—fueling, training, racing, recovery, people, places. I learn a lot by reading RW+ and feel even more excited about running.
I feel a surge of energy every time I run! I feel strong and positive for the rest of the day, and energetic (no matter how long or challenging the run). I love falling asleep at night fantasizing about the course I will run in the morning.
While I feel a sense of accomplishment after each run, I am also keenly aware (each time I head out) that I am still learning and evolving as a runner. Running is cumulative—each mile run contributes to a longer term trend of personal fitness and accomplishment.
There are a lot of trails in my area, but I particularly enjoy running in Rockefeller State Park (year round!) It is magnificently beautiful and hilly, and the carriage trails are more generous on the bones than is the paved road. The River Trail in Irvington/Tarrytown has been particularly important to me during COVID. It runs along the Hudson River and behind the Lyndhurst estate, and provides excellent views and some challenging hills.
Altras: Torin and Lone Peak. I love the wide toe box and appreciate the zero-drop structure.
Make no mistake—I am all smiles behind my running face mask!
Two marathons in 2021.
