Running gives me so many things: friends who love to be healthy, a reason to be outdoors every day, mental health via using my running companions as listening ears, and physically through the creation of a healthy body. In addition, vital aging, active travel opportunities, and a sense of accomplishment and self-discipline. Finally, the privilege of coaching so many wonderful kids and adults and seeing their joy in running develop.

I can’t remember when I first subscribed to the magazine—about 40 years ago—but I have continued to subscribe and joined RW+ to make sure I keep up with new running-related studies, coaching techniques, and equipment.

I run in the early a.m. anywhere friends can meet me. The valley we live in is beautiful from almost any road, bike trail, or trail.

Obsessions are not good! Ha! I do love Garmin after training so many years without knowing exact distances or going out in the car to check. The new Koala Clip holder for your phone that clips on your back is also wonderful.
