Ruth Negga Channels Iconic ’50s Actresses
At Monday’s Academy Awards Nominee Luncheon in Beverly Hills, Ruth Negga looked like she stepped out of the 1950s. The Ethiopian-Irish actress is making her mark as a beauty and style icon, and now she’s taking a lesson from iconic actresses like Audrey Hepburn, Elizabeth Taylor, and Sophia Loren.
The 35-year-old actress embraced ’50s style with disheveled pin curls, bold berry lips, glowing skin, and defined eyes and brows — also a nod to her character Mildred Loving in Loving, set in 1958.
Negga’s go-to hairstylist, Vernon Fran?ois, is responsible for this hairdo. And fans picked up on the vintage inspiration. “Her hair completely reminds me of Audrey Hepburn in Roman Holiday,” one wrote.

Makeup artist Melanie Inglessis opted for a pop of color using Chanel’s Rouge Allure Coco in Ina to “brighten the face.” Darkened creases and big, sultry eyes rounded out Negga’s beauty look.
