The cause of death for actor Ryan O'Neal has been released.
According to the death certificate obtained by The Blast, O'Neal died from "congestive heart failure" after suffering from "cardiomyopathy," a type of heart disease, for years. The official notice didn't indicate any other factors contributed to the Paper Moon actor's passing.
The document listed his final resting place as Pierce Brothers Westwood Village Memorial Park in Los Angeles, Calif.
As Parade previously reported, O'Neal passed away earlier this month at age 82. His son Patrick announced his death on Friday, Dec. 8, in a touching series of Instagram posts that remembered the late actor as a "great man."

His daughter Tatum later issued her own statement, telling People at the time, "I loved him very much and know he loved me too," she added. "I'll miss him forever and I feel very lucky that we ended on such good terms."
In the days following the news of his passing, countless other celebrities paid tribute to the Oscar nominee, including Barbra Streisand and his former Bones co-star David Boreanaz.
His most memorable acting credits include Peyton Place and Love Story, the latter of which he received a Best Actor Oscar nomination in 1970. He also starred in Paper Moon, What's Up, Doc, A Bridge Too Far, Barry Lyndon, The Main Event and The Driver, among many others.
Along with Tatum, whom Ryan shared with his first wife and late actress Joanna Moore, and Patrick, who he welcomed with his second wife Leigh Taylor-Young, the late actor is survived by his two other children: Griffin O'Neal, whom he also shares with Moore, and Redmond O'Neal, whom he welcomed with late actress Farrah Fawcett, in addition to several grandchildren.
