Ryan Reynolds Spills on Joining Taylor Swift at Travis Kelce's NFL Game
Taylor Swift, Blake Lively, Ryan Reynolds, Hugh Jackman, and more watch the Chiefs vs. Jets.
Ryan Reynolds doesn't need an excuse to spend the day in an NFL stadium, but cheering on one of his best friend's (alleged) boyfriends is a pretty good one.
The Deadpool star, wife Blake Lively, ol' pal Hugh Jackman, and several other celebrity friends were all spotted with Taylor Swift at the recent game between the Kansas City Chiefs and the New York Jets, where he had "a lot of fun" watching the "New Romantics" singer's rumored new beau Travis Kelce and the rest of his team at Metlife Stadium, he told Extra's Mona Kosar Abdi.
"The NFL right now is reaching a kind of fever pitch, you know, that's usually only reserved for the Super Bowl," he explained. "But...here we are at the fourth or fifth game of the year and it's already happening.”
That seems to be largely in part due to the world's investment in Swift and Kelce's very public, yet unconfirmed, blossoming romance, which has led the touring artist to appear at two Chiefs games so far.
But Reynolds loved playing football as a kid, so it's only natural that he'd love to watch it today—rooting for his friend is just an added bonus. "I will always watch it. It's a great sport," he continued. "But football in my mind now is what we would call soccer over here, because I can't say ‘soccer’ when I'm in Europe in any way, shape or form.”
Reynolds recently purchased the Welsh football—or soccer—team Wrexham Football Club with Rob McElhenney, documenting their work to turn the team around in the series Welcome to Wrexham.
