Ryan Seacrest didn't want to talk about Time's Up on Golden Globes red carpet
At this year’s Golden Globes, celebrities actually wanted to be asked hard-hitting red carpet questions. To show their solidarity with women’s rights across industries, the Time’s Up movement requested that celebrities dress in black. And most did, a visual symbol that their attention was on the sexual harassment allegations and movement for change in Hollywood and that they were ready to open up on the red carpet. Unfortunately, the red carpet interviewers weren’t necessarily ready themselves — particularly when it came to speaking with Hollywood’s leading men.
As many are pointing out across social media, Ryan Seacrest and other red carpet reporters weren’t asking enough of men. Women in their striking black gowns were ready to talk politics, and plenty of men also signified their support with black tuxedo shirts and #TimesUp pins. As New Yorker critic Emily Nussbaum described it, “I know it would be awkward but I love awkward.”

Others agreed that women shouldn’t be the only ones discussing changes in Hollywood.

Whatever the reasoning, it’s clear that men are both willing and ready to be a part of the conversation about gender inequality — we just have to start asking them. Fortunately for Ryan Seacrest, awards season is just beginning.
