Should Ryan Seacrest Wear Socks? The Answer May Surprise You.
Ryan Seacrest is deadlocked with fans over a fashion controversy regarding the talk show host’s socks.
Ever since Seacrest joined Live With Kelly & Ryan back in May, the co-host has stirred debate over his bare ankles, which he regularly shows off while wearing dress pants, sneakers, and suits, leaving the impression that the 42-year-old is sockless.
The look has raised etiquette concerns among viewers, and on Wednesday, the show attempted to settle the matter once and for all with a Twitter poll.
“Should Ryan wear socks?” asked the tweet, to which 18 percent answered no, while 30 percent said yes. More than 50 percent felt Seacrest should “wear whatever he likes.”

“It’s a cool summer look. So you’re cool, no worries,” guest host Carrie Ann Inaba said while reading the results on-air. “I know, I give sexy ankle,” replied Seacrest.
And the Twitterverse weighed in.

Seacrest had already clarified the matter during a May 10 episode of Live With Kelly & Ryan. Responding to viewers’ comments, he kicked up a leg and removed his shoe to reveal a sad-looking sock folded down to the middle of his sole.

Still, the debate over whether socks should show in the first place rages on.
“Men should wear socks for hygienic reasons, regardless of their outfit — however their visibility depends on the context,” Bree Jacoby, founder of Bree Jacoby Style Concierge, told Yahoo Style.
When it comes to pants, length matters. “If a man is wearing a shorter pant, it’s best to choose ‘no-show’ socks that aren’t seen while he’s walking or sitting,” says Jacoby. “If a man wears a longer pant, the sock should only show when he’s sitting down and crossing his leg.”
And not just any sock — instead of black or white pairs, Jacoby recommends funky conversation-starters such as polka dots, hearts, or bold colors.
Seacrest, who often wears a short pant that reveals his bare ankle, is clearly on trend. So there you have it.
