Sadie Sink Says It's 'Scary' Preparing for Final Season of 'Stranger Things'

The actress also expressed excitement about what's yet to come.

Sadie Sink is just as excited about the fifth season of Stranger Things as we are, but as the popular Netflix show's final season approaches, the actress isn't so delighted to be saying goodbye to the cast, crew, and her character, Max Mayfield.

Sink spoke to Hoda Kotb and Jenna Bush on TODAY about the series ending, saying, "It's going to be awful. It's going to be horrible. These kids, this entire cast and crew, this is like — I mean, it’s family. People say it all the time, but I genuinely mean it."

"And to think that we have to kind of say goodbye to that security and knowing that we won’t be seeing each other for another season," she continued, "It’s scary and sad, but I think it’s exciting to move on to the next chapter.”

For Sink, her character's future is also unclear, as Season 4 of Stranger Things ends with Max in a coma after she almost dies while fighting off Jamie Campbell Bower's villainous Vecna.

The 20-year-old told the TODAY hosts, "Spoiler-free, just with the way my character ended in Season 4, I have no idea what is going to happen. But I'll be there."

Netflix has not announced a release date for Stranger Things Season 5, though it confirmed that the show would film in 2023.

That means all of the fan-favorite characters, played by cast members Millie Bobby Brown, David Harbour, Winona Ryder, Joe Keery, Maya Hawke, and Priah Ferguson, will return one for one last adventure soon.

But there is hope that a live-action spinoff will happen, as What's On Netflix recently reported that a long-hinted-at anime spinoff, Stranger Things Tokyo, is already on its way.

Considering how popular Stranger Things is, we hope Netflix wouldn't just give up on the franchise so easily.
