Sally Hansen’s New Polish Marble Your Mani in a Single Coat
Have you ever tried to give yourself a DIY manicure, attempting to master the most sought-after nail art trends only to end up with messy edges and sloppy smudges? You’re not alone. As much as we all wish we were professional technicians capable of crafting the ultimate non-basic nail looks, when it comes to working with seemingly slow-drying polish and zero patience, the result is anything but Instagram-worthy.
Well, what if we told you there’s a new way to rock an Insta-ready nail look without relying on a professional? The masterminds behind Sally Hansen must have pondered the same question when they launched Miracle Gel ($10) in 2014.
Consisting of a whopping 75 shades, the collection is designed to create the appearance of a professional manicure. Simply apply two even layers of the fast-drying color across each nail, let dry, and finish with a single coat of the Miracle Gel Top Coat ($10). Three simple steps sans UV light and your nails will look fresh out of the salon despite taking a fraction of the time to create. (Photo via Yulia-Images/ Getty)
As if the dozens of shades to choose from aren’t enough, the brand’s two newest formulas are sure to grab your attention. And no, it’s not because they’re seasonal hues or full of glitter, but because they’re built to deliver next-level nail art in a single swipe. The Sally Hansen Miracle Gel Color Whirl ($10) expansion features shades Marble-ous, a sheer ballerina pink, and Steam Punk, a semi-transparent true black. But it’s not the colors that make them so special, it’s the way in which they pool when applied that will make your eyes go wide. Where professional nail artists may spend upwards of an hour to create a speckled, marbled mani, a few swipes of these lacquers will do the same thing (as shown in the side-by-side result photos above and below). It works by evenly coating the nail with pigment which then separates the same way oil and water does. The result? A one-of-a-kind spotty shade that looks ever-so-slightly different each time it’s applied.
Apply two coats of Miracle Gel in the color of your choice topped off with the Color Whirl shade you prefer, followed by one coat of Miracle Gel Top Coat. You’re officially a DIY nail art pro. More of a visual learner? Check out the tutorial here.
