Salon holds classes to teach dads how to style their daughters' hair
This Father’s Day, a local hair salon will educate dads in the community on how to braid, adorn and style their daughter’s hair.
Blush Beauty Co., located in Lake Charles, La. will host two classes for dad-daughter duos on June 8 at 10 a.m. and 11 a.m. Classes are priced at $35 per duo, with $10 for each additional daughter.
In a Facebook comment, the salon recommends bringing girls aged 10 and under for the class. Kayla White, manager and stylist at the salon, pointed out how men are sometimes just clueless when it comes to dealing with girls’ hair.
“They’re used to being able to shower and dry and just run their fingers through it, put a little product in and go,” White told KPLC in an interview. “But whenever it comes to having to do their daughter’s hair, they’re kind of clueless and have no idea. A lot of times people can tell when mom is out of town and dad did the hair.”
A local mother and business-owner, Courtney Chance agreed with this, pointing out that she often has to travel for work, and her husband is then in charge, as reported by KPLC. “When Dad is in charge, it’s either sometimes just a bow, sometimes it’s just her trying to do it herself,” Chance told KPLC. “A lot of dads do need to get involved with the upbringing of their daughters and their hair and how to pamper them and I think that’s just special.”
Blush Beauty Co. also launched an Instagram contest on their Instagram story on Friday, May 31, offering the chance to win free admission to the class by posting a video of a daughter talking about why her dad is the best.
The salon promises popsicles from BOOMBOX Pops and family photos for participants during the sessions to make it a fun bonding event for dads and their daughters.
