Ever since Steve Jobs introduced the world to the very first iPad in 2010, Apple has dominated the tablet market with the iPad Mini, iPad Air and iPad Pro. But there’s a ton of people who aren’t Apple and iOS users at all and need a top-rated tablet that runs on Android.
Enter the Samsung Galaxy Tab A, an 8-inch tablet that’s the first real alternative to the iPad. It’s so easy to use and versatile, it just might convince iPad users to switch to Android altogether. And, it’s on sale for $128, or $22 off at Amazon.
The Samsung Galaxy Tab A weighs just over a pound and boasts 32GB of storage (expandable up to a whopping 512GB via microSD card), compared to Apple’s entry level 32GB (without expandability). On top of that, the Tab A’s 8-inch display has a full HD widescreen for immersive viewing, while the iPad is not widescreen at all.
It features an 8-megapixel rear shooter with a 5-megapixel selfie cam on the front for video calls—this camera set is actually better than the one that comes with the iPad.
“The iPad is bulky and, in spite of being an ‘Air’ model, it’s a bit heavy to lug around. And, as with any Apple product, eventually the battery life becomes ridiculously short,” shares a five-star Amazon reviewer. “This Galaxy has been a lifesaver. The battery life is amazing, the tablet is lightweight and, because it's a tablet and not a reader dedicated to a single company, I have the Nook, Kindle, Kobo and Google Play apps all working well in one place so I can choose my next book from whichever library I want.”
As far as sound, the Samsung Galaxy Tab A includes dual-channel audio in a full-stereo design for sharpness and clarity. With up to 13 hours of battery life and 2GB of memory, this Android tablet is more than zippy enough for browsing the internet, listening to music, playing mobile games, watching YouTube videos and some lite work—including word processing, spreadsheets and presentations.
“One of the best purchases ever! The Samsung Galaxy Tab A is a joy,” adds a satisfied Amazon shopper. “I was able to set it up and use it from the get-go. I like the fact that it has 32GB of storage and you can add an SD card. It is FAST! The screen is clear and the colors are vivid and bright! The battery lasts a long time. I use it specifically to do Paint By Number apps and I am happy with how it works.”
If you’re looking for an easy-to-use tablet, this Samsung Galaxy Tab A is an excellent option to consider—especially that it’s a fraction of the cost of an iPad.
