Readers of all ages can participate in the summer reading program, which lasts from June 1 to Aug. 31.

It’s a library with seeds instead of books

The theme of this year’s program is “Read, Renew, Repeat,” encouraging readers of all ages to learn more about protecting, maintaining and restoring habitats, ecosystems, wildlife and natural resources.

Complete a combination of 10 books, hours of reading or activities and you can claim your prizes, which are available for pickup starting June 8 at any library location.

“We encourage people of all ages to sign up for the Summer Reading Program. It’s a great way for kids to keep their reading skills up when they’re out of school for the summer and for adults to find new books to love.” said Library Director Misty Jones. “Our San Diego summers are also the perfect time to get out and explore nature and embrace the conservation theme of this year’s program.”

Readers who finish the summer reading program will be eligible for prizes including books, museum passes, meal vouchers and a reusable utensil kit.
