Sand Effects will host sandcastle summer camp on Okaloosa Island

FORT WALTON BEACH — Jason Harwell of Sand Effects is set to host a different kind of summer camp.

Beginning Friday, Aug. 2, kids across the Emerald Coast can participate in a three-day camp at Beasley Park on Okaloosa Island. There, they will learn the intricacies of sandcastles and sand art.

Throughout the weekend, campers will learn how to build strong, stackable castles and learn how to use their tools effectively. By the end of the camp, students can create their masterpieces and display them to other campers and beachgoers.

"I'm so excited to bring this to you guys and I can't wait to see what everyone creates," Harwell said in a Facebook post.

The Sand Effects Beach Summer Camp is open to kids ages 5 through 18. Registration fees for the first child are $100, with $80 for each additional child. T-shirts will be available for purchase for an extra $20. Camp hours are scheduled from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., which allows parents to have a night out on the town or stay and learn the skills needed to become master crafters.
