Saoirse Ronan Channeled an Iconic Disney Villain at the Oscars

When it comes to the red carpet, Saoirse Ronan never disappoints. The actress (and four-time Oscar nominee) consistently pulls out all the sartorial stops during awards season. But one thing we rarely see her do? Channel iconic Disney villains.

Ronan arrived at the 2020 Oscars in a multimedia Gucci gown that gave us serious Ursula (of The Little Mermaid fame) vibes. The dress featured a plunging neckline, a black and white ruffled swath of fabric at her waist, and a voluminous pale blue skirt (i.e. Ursula Blue). Ronan wore her blonde locks in wispy updo, a new set of baby bangs framing her face. The Little Women star matched her eye shadow to her skirt and added a bit of sparkle to the whole ensemble with glittering chandelier earrings and a delicate jeweled barrette modeled after a bee.

Speaking with Ryan Seacrest on E!’s red carpet, Ronan shared some of the motivation behind her decision to star in Greta Gerwig’s adaptation of Little Women: “I really wanted to be in a film with a bunch of girls in it.”
