Sara Haines Is Reportedly Leaving ‘The View’
Just days after it was announced that Paula Faris was leaving The View for a new job at ABC News, Page Six is now reporting that Sara Haines is also reportedly leaving the talk show - and heading to a new position at Good Morning America.
Though ABC News has not commented on the shuffle yet, Haines will reportedly join the new third hour of Good Morning America, which is replacing The Chew in the 1 p.m. time slot. She’ll co-anchor the show alongside Michael Strahan. Strahan got his start in the NFL before becoming a broadcaster, joining Live With Kelly and Michael and then GMA, where he is already a co-anchor.
Variety reports the show will start September 10, and will be pre-taped instead of live. The exact format of the show is still up in the air, but could involve the studio audience from Good Morning America’s 8 a.m. hour. Previously, ABC promised the show would feature news, pop culture, interviews, and live events.
Haines, who joined ABC News as a correspondent in 2013, has been a host of The View since 2014, when she started as a guest co-host. She was promoted to a regular cohost two years later. Haines started her career at NBC as a page and worked her way up through the years to join Kathie Lee Gifford and Hoda Kotb in the fourth hour of Today.
Now, with her and Faris departing, that leaves Joy Behar, Whoopi Goldberg, Sunny Hostin, and Meghan McCain, and there has been no news yet of who will be joining them at the table.
