Stop asking women if they're pregnant, says TV host Sara Haines
Sara Haines has had enough.
The host of ABC’s daytime TV’s Strahan, Sara and Keke offered a piece of advice Thursday for anyone who feels the need to ask her or any other woman if she’s pregnant: don’t do it.
I’ve had 3 babies & I love the way I look, little belly pooch & all. It’s NOT ok to ask a woman if she is pregnant. It’s a delicate topic & you never know what journey someone is on. It is also flat out body shaming when you say someone looks pregnant. #bebetter #liftwomenup

The mom of three correctly said that such a question is a “delicate topic” that could lead to an emotional end for the woman being questioned.
After someone replied to Haines’s tweet that she looked pregnant in a certain outfit, Haines labeled the comment as “just sad.” Haines said the words had proven her point. She noted that some people have conditions that make them appear pregnant or they’re dealing with an invisible struggle to have a child.
Thank you for proving my point. People come in a variety of shapes & sizes. Some people have conditions where their stomachs swell. Some people fight so hard to have a baby & stay quiet to protect themselves on their journey. Just sad!👇🏻 https://t.co/jurdnHoayb

Most of the response to Haines’s message was supportive. Women thanked her for saying something that’s sorely needed.
Oh snap!!!! U r forever fabulous. And a ray of sunshine.?

Thank U for saying this! It's really hard 2 get this question.I get this a lot, aside from the pointing out overweight aspect. It really brings up some painful topics in regards to children and relationships. I know it's not mean hearted but it is hurtful on the receiving side.

#truth A family member once told me I "was coming back together nicely" after the birth of my daughter. 😑

The former host of The View welcomed her third child, a son named Caleb, with husband Max Shifrin, in June. She and Shifrin also share daughter Sandra, 2, and 4-year-old son Alec.
In a December 2017 story for Glamour, she offered her perspective on other questions that people should refrain from asking women about motherhood.
“I got married when I was 37, and I’m having my second child at 40,” Haines told the magazine. “People say I’m brave, but I say, ‘I'm not brave; I'm old!’ When I was 28, I’ll never forget meeting this woman who was carrying her child and saying to me, ‘If I could give you a piece of advice, it’s don’t wait." I looked at her and was like, ‘You think this is a choice?’ This is just how my life looks like right now. I remember thinking that kind of advice doesn’t help anyone.”
Haines also advised against people asking whether a woman was planning to have kids at all.
