Sarah Sanders favors journalist wearing the same dress as her
On Tuesdays, apparently, the White House wears fuchsia. But only two women got the memo.
During Tuesday’s press briefing this week, Sarah Sanders addressed the media about the Parkland, Fla., high school shooting. She then turned it over to the attendees to ask questions. And she admitted to being biased in awarding the first question. She locked eyes with a woman on her right.
“Kristen,” she said while pointing. Then Sanders looked her up and down and realized they were twinning, noting, “Mostly because we are matching.” She then added, “I feel like she earned the right for the first question.”
The woman was NBC White House correspondent Kristen Welker. And when the camera panned to her, it was evident that they were wearing the same dress. Both women coincidentally (we assume) chose a berry three-quarter length sleeve shift dress with a bow-tied stand collar, styling their hair so that it covered the bow.
Welker smiled and acknowledged the coincidence by saying, “Yes, thank you,” but quickly moved on to more pressing topics: Russia’s meddling in the 2016 presidential election.
The designer of the crepe frock appears to be Eliza J, which sells a near identical version for $148 and has dressed other members of the press, such as Sara Gore.
Of course, Twitter picked up on it and turned it into a “Who Wore It Better?” contest. And the public has spoken: The winner is Welker.
Hey @Morning_Joe @MSNBC WHO WORE IT BETTER at yesterday's WH presser? @PressSec or @kwelkernbc? I think @kwelkernbc won it hands down. @JoeNBC @morningmika pic.twitter.com/g5IbdcIw8c
