Is Sarah Paulson Returning for ‘American Horror Story: 1984’? It Sounds Like a No
Listen up, American Horror Story fans: Sarah Paulson just addressed whether or not she’s returning for season nine, and we’re more confused than ever.
In a recent interview with SyFy, the 44-year-old actress revealed that she doesn’t know if she’ll appear in the next installment of the anthology series, titled AHS: 1984.
When asked about her involvement, Paulson played coy, saying, “I don’t really know the answer to that. All I can say is I know the least about this season upcoming that I’ve known about any season. Usually, I have more information at this point, and I’m bugging Ryan [Murphy] with questions. Right now, I don’t have a lot.”
Surprised? Us, too. Paulson has been in every single season of American Horror Story since its inception in 2011. During the first eight seasons, the Glass star played a number of characters, including Billie Dean Howard, Lana Winters, Cordelia Foxx, Bette Tattler, Dot Tattler, Sally McKenna, Shelby Miller, Ally Mayfair-Richards and Ms. Wilhemina Venable.
In the most recent installment, AHS: Apocalypse, Paulson reprised not one, but two former characters: Billie (season one) and Cordelia (season three).
Earlier this month, series creator Ryan Murphy announced season nine’s theme. Contrary to popular belief, the new episodes will have nothing to do with the George Orwell novel. Instead, the next chapter will pay homage to the ’80s-slasher-movie genre popularized by films like Friday the 13th and A Nightmare on Elm Street.
Is Paulson’s AHS career coming to an end? Gulp, we hope not. American Horror Story: 1984 is set to premiere on FX this fall.
