Savannah Guthrie shuts down body-shaming pregnancy speculation: 'It's just the dress'
Better think twice before making assumptions about whether a woman is pregnant.
Drew Barrymore recently called out a “bitch” who referenced her “pregnancy” after the actress put on weight during a break from filming. Now Savannah Guthrie is shooting down rumors that she’s having a third child.
“It’s just the dress,” the Today host cracked in response to a since-deleted tweet speculating about her body and baby-making plans after she wore a snug polka-dot dress during Tuesday’s show. (The video clip below with Bishop Michael Curry shows the dress in detail.)

An Instagram post reiterated Guthrie’s feelings about asking a woman if she’s expecting, drawing a huge response from women who had experienced the same issue.

“Left hook or an upper cut?” model and fellow mom Christy Turlington commented, and another woman wrote, “Unless you see that baby crown, it’s always a SOLID NO.”
Several others admitted that they too wondered the same thing after seeing Guthrie’s dress, but chalked it up to an “optical illusion.”
The topic resurfaced on Wednesday’s show, during which Guthrie — who is the mother of a 3-year-old daughter and a 17-month-old son — noted that although viewers “mean well,” their well wishes can sometimes sting.
“Congratulations on my second gym membership that I need to obviously go to,” she joked. “I mean, it’s just one of those things, but it did touch a nerve because I just responded and said, ‘No, I’m not pregnant.’ I’ve never received so many comments on a post.”
The 46-year-old journalist also mentioned fellow Today personality Jenna Bush Hager’s quip that “at least people think you’re young enough to have a baby,” jokingly calling it a “silver lining.”
