Teacher's assistant calls student 'racist and sexist' and wraps MAGA flag around his head in video
A video shows a woman identified as a teacher’s assistant wrapping a student’s head in a MAGA flag, breaking school rules about political expression.
The Instagram account Uncle Sam’s Misguided Children posted a recording on Saturday taken at Tabb High School in Yorktown, Va., with the caption, “…Teachers name is Mrs. Brinkley. Students had spirit week and one student wore a Trump 2020 flag. As you can see the teacher tried to shove the flag down his shirt. She called him a racist and Sexist. She also tried taking his phone.”
In the recording, a woman walked over to a student who had draped a blue “Trump 2020” flag reading, “Make America Great Again” over his chair and calmly wrapped the material around his head, smiling when she turned away.

The York County School Division wrote on Facebook that the woman in the video is a paraeducator, also known as teacher aides or teaching assistants. “We take this matter seriously, as we do all concerns brought to our attention. The York County School Division believes every student is entitled to a safe and welcoming school environment. School Board policy also recognizes that school time and school property should not be used for any political purposes. Employees are expected to refrain from engaging in any activity supporting or opposing a candidate or political party while on duty, while on school property during school hours, or while representing the school division.”
The district is “continuing to review this personnel matter in accordance with division policies and procedures.”
York County School Division communications officer Katherine Goff sent Yahoo Lifestyle the same statement, adding that violations are defined by the School Board Policy Manual. Its language states “that school time and school property should not be used for partisan political purposes.” Employees cannot further a political cause or behave in a way that supports or opposes a candidate or political party, while at work.
School board member James Richardson told the Williamsburg Yorktown Daily that the student’s parents are aware and there is an investigation. Asked about the educator’s identity, he said, “We wouldn’t release anything to that effect anyway.”
