Second annual ArtFest Green Bay brings art to the heart of downtown
GREEN BAY, Wis. (WFRV) – The streets of Downtown Green Bay came alive with an art fair, musical performances, food, demonstrations, and more on Saturday for the second Artfest Green Bay.
“We obviously have fine art and art in its traditional look in the booths, but then we have an area which is experiential art so it’s hands-on things for anyone, demonstrations, dance,” explained the Downtown Green Bay Assistant Director, Jen Metcalf. “We also have live music, we have three different areas with live music and performing arts.”
Over 100 local, regional, and national artists will showcase their artwork at the Art Fair, and there will be a lineup of musicians and performers, from headliners like The Salute to Sinatra Big Band, and a variety of local artists and a Ho-Chunk Drum & Dance Troupe.

As the Ho-Chunk Nation is being honored throughout this year’s Artfest, the community art project is a large paint-by-number mural, featuring the river and feathers representing the 12 Ho-Chunk Clans.
“Historical heritage is being featured in a mural,” explained Metcalf. “A community paint-by-number mural and it is underneath the main street bridge down here along the Fox River trail.”
Guadalupe Garner from Green Bay was one of the many attendees of Artfest and said it was inspiring to see so many artists from across the region and the nation participate in such a festive arts and culture event in Green Bay.
“I love art and I was a big art person in high school so it’s nice to see community events like this,” said Garner. “There’s a lot of different things that you wouldn’t even think about being art and a lot of just unique ideas.”

Presented by Nicolet Bank & Green Bay Packaging, Artfest organizers hope to continue bringing art to the heart of the city.
“We see the value and the community sees the value of having an arts and culture festival right in the heart of your downtown. it not only brings people here together for the purpose that we’re all here which is to enjoy the arts and culture but it really encourages people to check out the area businesses around here.”
