The Secret Use for Your Big Green Egg

When you think of your Big Green Egg, thoughts of fatty, delicious ribs and perfect steaks likely dominate, but did you know there are two lesser-known uses for the Egg that Eggheads adore?

First, in the same way it locks in tender, savory flavor for meats, it will also do so when you throw veggies in your Egg. Big Green Egg offers some inspiration here — pan-fried kale with vegetarian gravy or pearl barley with stir-fried sprouts, anyone? — but the possibilities are nearly endless.

"Big Green Egg chefs around the world know that, when cooking with indirect heat, the EGG performs as a very efficient fire-brick oven — just like those found in the ruins of Pompeii and adapted for use in pizzerias around the world today," as the company website explains. "[The] natural charcoal radiates within the thick ceramic walls of the dome, allowing your food and pizza to bake quickly and evenly."
