The Secret To Having A Luxurious Weekend
Annabelle Fleur knows style, as evident from her successful fashion blog Viva Luxury. But she's just as talented behind a camera lens as she is posing in front of one.
In a recent photo series called "Breakfast In Bed," which Fleur curated for Hilton hotels, the tastemaker has proven that her styling skills extend to cuisine as well.
Now she's sharing with us just how she does it. Here are her seven secrets to having a luxurious weekend without leaving bed – or at least looking like you haven't.
Think Color
Focus in on the color of the food you've prepared and play it up. "When serving a fresh bowl of fruit," Fleur says, "you might choose to accentuate the red of the strawberries by adding matching florals in a similar shade."
Keep It Simple
The focus should be on the food – not the dinnerware. Fleur suggests simple and classic white tableware.
Messy Is Chic
You want the shot to feel realistic, not staged. When it comes to the sheets, Fleur says, "ruffle them to make it look like you've had a good night's sleep."
Pick The Right Tray
"Bed trays should not only be stylish and beautiful but practical," Fleur notes. This means foldable legs, convenient handles, and enough space to hold all the plates, napkins, glasses, and other knick-knacks you want to feature.
Add Accessories
While the food is the main focus, elegant accessories will bring your breakfast in bed look to the next level. Fleur recommends including items such as cloth napkins, silver coffee pots or teapots, flowers, and even your favorite magazine.
Lighting Is Crucial
"Skip the camera flash and place the breakfast tray close to a natural light source," Fleur advises. "Make sure the tray is facing the window and the light is behind you when taking the shot."
Stick To Classic Breakfast Foods
"Breakfast in bed should celebrate all the senses," Fleur says. To help your followers feel like they're right there with you, serve up breakfast favorites like pancakes, a flaky croissant, and coffee.
