The 'Secret' Ingredient That Makes Snoop Dogg's Fried Bologna Sandwich the Best I've Ever Tasted
No matter your age, you've heard Snoop Dogg's name at least once in your life. While his expansive career has been led by his ability to produce hit after hit in multiple genres of the music industry, the "Beautiful" rapper's BFF status with lifestyle icon Martha Stewart has led him to take a page from her book and showcase his culinary side.
Releasing his first cookbook From Crook to Cook in 2018, Snoop—in collaboration with rap mogul Master P—has since launched his own line of breakfast foods, starred in a number of shows with Martha and most recently, partnered with Grubhub on the "Did Somebody Say" campaign to tell everyone all about his go-to orders when using the delivery service through song.

"Being on the road gives me the chance to explore the local spots. I always want to support the community, so I check out the family-owned restaurants on Grubhub to find the best soul food spot or BBQ joint," he said. "I always check out the pictures to see who has the rice and gravy, mac n’ cheese, rib tips, smothered pork chops.”
While he's always searching for the best soul food while on the road, when he's at home, the legendary has his moments where he enjoys something a little more on the simpler side: a bologna sandwich. But this isn't just any old ordinary bologna sandwich; it's fried, packed with flavor and includes one simple (yet necessary) "secret" ingredient—barbecue potato chips.
Here's how it went when I gave it a try.

Ingredients for Snoop Dogg's OG Fried Bologna Sandwich
You only need a few simple ingredients to make this recipe come to life: bread, bologna, American cheese, butter, mustard and barbecue chips.
How to Make Snoop Dogg's OG Fried Bologna Sandwich
Start by removing the red outer layer of the bologna and with a knife, cut a slit from the end of the meat to the center. This keeps the meat from bubbling up and helps it to cook evenly.
Next, after heating up a medium-sized pan on medium-low high heat, add a tablespoon of butter and let it melt. Add your bread and let it toast on both sides until golden, about 2 minutes each. Remove from heat.
Using the same pan, add in your slices of bologna, cooking on each side for 2-3 minutes. Once done, add a slice of American cheese on top of the bologna while it's still in the pan, letting it melt before removing.
Add your bologna and cheese combo to one slice of bread and add mustard to the other. Then, add Snoop's secret ingredient: as many barbecue chips as you can possibly fit. Smash the two slices together and enjoy!

What I Thought of Snoop Dogg's OG Fried Bologna Sandwich
When I first found this recipe, I got a little excited about making it because it just felt so nostalgic. It reminded me so much of my childhood and all the fun times that were had, and the first thing it took me back to, was the weekends I spent at my granny's house with the strong aroma of bologna and eggs flowing throughout the house.
Snoop's version of this classic sandwich is a true nod to the culture and even after all these years of going without bologna on my end, it was still as delicious now as it was during my childhood. I personally think that even if you weren't a fan of bologna growing up, this fried version—and its "secret ingredient"— just might change your mind about the often frowned upon lunch meat.
