The 24th annual Critics' Choice Awards, honoring the year in film and television, took place on Sunday evening in Santa Monica, with stars like Lady Gaga and Timothée Chalamet stealing the sartorial spotlight. Though not as buzzy or hyped as the Golden Globes, the Critics' Choice Awards are known to offer some pretty substantial clues about who might win big at the Oscars. Though it's a more laid-back affair than the other dates on the awards show calendar, celebrities still turned up the class in crisp, white gowns and polished pantsuits.

After the princess-like dresses and overstated Hollywood glamor of last week's Golden Globes, many female attendees went for more pared-down looks. Gaga, who stole the show at the Globes in a Judy Garland-inspired dress, kept things relatively simple with a strapless, pale peach Calvin Klein By Appointment gown, which featured a much shorter train than her extravagant Valentino number. Similarly, Claire Foy and Rachel Brosnahan traded flowy frocks for trousers — a move Julia Roberts seems to be championing this awards season. Meanwhile, the men took the relaxed red carpet as another opportunity to show off their impressive fashion game in bold tuxedos.
