See Garth Brooks, Trisha Yearwood Sing for Jimmy Carter on His 99th Birthday
While attending a charity project founded by former president Jimmy Carter and former first lady Rosalynn Carter, Garth Brooks and Trisha Yearwood honored the 39th president on his landmark 99th birthday with a special performance.
Brooks shared a video on social media that began with the couple personally wishing Carter a happy birthday before Brooks said with a smile, "We've got a lot of people that want to tell you, 'Happy birthday.' Maybe even sing it for you."
The video then transitioned to a clip from Habitat for Humanity’s 37th Carter Work Project, a charity event founded by the Carters in 1984, which Brooks, 61, and Yearwood, 59, led this year.
On stage, Brooks started singing "Happy Birthday," with the audience following along. He let them take over and finish the song for "Mr. President" before everyone started cheering.

While posting the video on X (formerly known as Twitter), Brooks wrote, "Happy Birthday, President Carter! We’re in Charlotte, NC kicking off The Jimmy & Rosalynn Carter Work Project with @Habitat_org — your friends wanted to sing something for you! We ALL love you! g&T."
Fans enjoyed the sweet moment in honor of Carter's big day, with one person commenting on the video, "This made me teary. Thank you. President Carter is a gem, and we’re lucky to have him — and you."
"Thank you Garth and Trisha for ensuring the Carter legacy lives on! This is such a great organization. Happy birthday to President Carter!" said another.
The Jimmy & Rosalynn Carter Work Project, which took place between Oct. 1-6 this year, gathers together volunteers to renovate, repair, and build homes for those in need.
Brooks spoke about his and Yearwood's new role with the project, saying, “Though we could never fill their shoes, we are so incredibly honored to be given the opportunity to carry President and Mrs. Carter’s legacy forward through the continuation of the Carter Work Project.”
Carter turned 99 on Oct. 1, while his wife Rosalynn turned 96 on Aug. 18. The couple is retired, with Carter currently in hospice care while his wife was diagnosed with dementia earlier this year. They currently spend their time together at home in Georgia with their family.
