Playwright Edward Albee, best known for Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf? and A Delicate Balance, owned a beachfront home in Montauk until his death in September 2016. Now it's about to hit the market with a price tag of $20 million. Here's a look at the property.
The house sits on nearly three acres in Montauk.
It features 200 feet of beach frontage, the Wall Street Journal reports.
Albee purchased the home in the 1960s.
Actress Uta Hagen, who originated the role of Martha in Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?, convinced him to buy it as a summer home, Jakob Holder, executive director of the Edward F. Albee Foundation, told the Journal. (The Foundation currently owns the property, where it hosts artists' and writers' residencies.)
The main house is 2,100 square feet.
It includes three bedrooms and three-and-a-half bathrooms.
Albee wrote one of his Pulitzer Prize-winning plays, Seascape , in the home.
The grounds include a one-bedroom guest house, a pool, and this tennis court.
For $20 million, it could be yours.
If it achieves its asking price, the estate will be one of the most expensive homes ever sold in Montauk.
