See Tony Romo’s Second Awkward Slip-Up With Taylor Swift
Tony Romo, Taylor Swift
Tony Romo seemed to stumble over his words while talking about Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce recently, repeating the same mistake that got him a lot of attention at the start of December.
While Swift was out supporting her beau at his Christmas Day football game between the Kansas City Chiefs and the Las Vegas Raiders, Romo was reporting on the game on TV.
Showing a clip of Swift clapping and cheering for Kelce, Romo said, "And his wife loves it, I mean girlfriend." ESPN shared a clip of the slip-up on Instagram.
"Typical Tony Romo jumping the gun??," said one fan, as another response read, "Tony’s just manifesting it ??."
Fans on X weren't impressed with Romo's commentary, with a few saying that they thought he said "wife" again on purpose, with one even declaring, "It was funny the first time, it’s not anymore."
Someone else joked, "All Tony Romo wants for Christmas is for Taylor to be Travis Kelce’s wife…NOT AGAIN TONY ????."
After Romo's comment, his fellow commentator Jim Nantz said, "You've been down that road with that before." He was likely referring to Romo's first time making that mistake earlier in December.
During the Dec. 10 game, when the Chiefs played the Buffalo Bills, the football announcer appeared to accidentally call Swift Kelce's wife, and fans went a little wild, questioning whether Romo knew something they didn't. Like the Dec. 25 game, Romo quickly corrected himself, but that didn't stop fans from fixating on the moment.
Since then, some people have also brought up Romo, who played for the Dallas Cowboys until his retirement in 2017, and his own past romance with a pop singer. Romo dated Jessica Simpson from 2007 and 2009, and like Kelce and Swift, they dominated headlines at the time.
