Selena Gomez Debuts Supershort Hair

Only a few months after chopping her glossy hair into a lob, Selena Gomez has gone even shorter, debuting a bob on Instagram.

On Tuesday, Gomez showed off the chin-length look to her 118 million Instagram followers (dubbed “Selenators”). The image, which received almost 714K likes within 30 minutes, depicts side-by-side photos of Gomez wearing a white off-the-shoulder top and giving fans a head-on and a profile shot of her new ‘do.

Gomez’s hairstylist Marissa Marino could not be reached for comment — and it’s unclear whether the look is indeed a cut or just a beauty illusion; however, the celebrity hairdresser has been behind the singer’s dramatic cuts in the past.

In January, shortly after photos of the 24-year-old star and The Weeknd were released by TMZ, prompting rumors of a romance, Gomez revealed a new, wavy lob (long bob) on Instagram.

Gomez also appeared in the April issue of Vogue with a slicked-back ‘do.

In the past, Gomez has relied on hair trickery to achieve certain looks. In 2013, she performed at the Jingle Ball in Texas wearing a supercropped wig with blunt bangs and rocking a bright red lip.

And she has copped to wearing extensions to create her waist-length hair, telling YouTube personality Lilly Singh in 2015 that her hair was “very fake.”

Gomez, who told Vogue that her assistant runs her Instagram account (Gomez doesn’t even have her own password), may not realize the social media frenzy caused by her new hair. However, we’ve definitely found our new summer cut.
