Selena Gomez Explains Why She Underwent Surgery Recently
While promoting her new single, Selena Gomez revealed that her creative process, at one point, included recovering from a surgery she had on her hand.
In a candid comment about her health shared below a fan page's Instagram post that asked people to "go buy" Gomez's latest release, the 31-year-old singer revealed that she doesn't care about music sales and is "just happy to make music" since recovering from surgery to stabilize her broken limb.
"Broke my hand and had surgery," Gomez wrote in the comments of the Aug. 26 Instagram post. "I don't care about selling anything. I'm just happy to make music with my friends."
Gomez didn't get into any other details related to her injury or elaborate further on when the operation occurred.
But in addition to starring in Hulu's Only Murders in the Building, the singer had reportedly been in the studio working on a highly-anticipated new album, SG3, when she teased the Aug. 25 release of her summertime dance track "Single Soon."
"Y’all have been asking for new music for a while," she began in the Aug. 17 upload. "Since I’m not quite done with SG3, I wanted to put out a fun little song I wrote a while back that’s perfect for the end of summer."
Though a release date and tracklist for SG3 has not yet been announced, "Single Soon" is expected to be a preview of and featured on her upcoming LP.
The song, which has since landed on Apple Music's Top 100 chart and received a lot of love from fans, is a "playful anthem about being comfortable in your own skin and loving your own company," according to the singer. "And it’s also really fun to dance to! ??."
