More evidence Selena Gomez is (about to be) 30, flirty, and thriving: Ahead of the second season of her true-crime dramedy Only Murders in the Building dropping on Hulu next week, the singer rolled up to the set of Jimmy Kimmel Live in a jaw-dropping emerald midi gown. Grinning at fans who’d gathered for a glimpse, she radiated confidence and peace—a welcome sight on the singer, who’s been candid about her mental and physical health struggles in recent years. (Gomez was diagnosed with lupus in 2014 and revealed in 2020 that she has bipolar disorder.)

For Kimmel, Gomez styled her hair in an elegant low ponytail and accessorized the off-the-shoulder gown with simple black peep-toe heels. Her makeup—is that a Rare Beauty lipstick we spy?—was subtle but romantic, featuring a peach-beige lip and smoky brown eyeshadow. Ever a hoops girl, Gomez finished the effect with chunky gold earrings falling just above her chin.

Turning 30 on July 22, Gomez is heading into her next decade with a hit TV show, a successful beauty line, and arguably one of the best celebrity TikTok accounts in rotation. (A personal favorite: Gomez sitting in a closet and silently placing a clothes hanger on her head, no explanation.) But she also has an aspirational attitude about the ups and downs of her love life. “My therapist is like, ‘Girl, are you ever gonna find a man?!’’ Gomez told The Hollywood Reporter on its Awards Chatter podcast June 13. “I’m like, ‘I dunno’… But I do feel like right now, in my life, I am just so open, and I love what I do…I just am in a really good space right now, and I’m enjoying it.”

She added that her Only Murders in the Building co-stars, Steve Martin and Martin Short, have boosted her expectations for a new man in her life. “Being around two adult gentlemen—because that’s what they are, they are very sweet and kind and hilarious and inappropriate sometimes and it’s the best—I just learned so much,” she said. “And my expectation for a man, to be honest, or any human, is to be as decent as these two human beings are. They have been doing this longer than I’ve been alive, and they are the kindest people.”

As for any plans around the big 3-0, the singer is arranging her own blowout. “I am having a party because I was like, ‘You know what? All my friends back home are married with kids, so I’m just gonna throw my own party.’” An inspiration to us all.
