Shannen Doherty Issues Pointed Statement After Kate Middleton Cancer News

Shannen Doherty is the latest celebrity to weigh in on the situation involving Kate Middleton and her recent cancer diagnosis—and the actress has some big feelings about it.
The Princess of Wales, 42, issued a personal video to explain the real reason she has kept out of the public eye in recent months, revealing that she was diagnosed with cancer after undergoing abdominal surgery in January. The news came after weeks of speculation from the public about what was happening with Middleton.
But after Middleton shared shocking cancer news with the world on Friday, March 22, Doherty spoke out on social media to slam the invasion of privacy that she believes the public "forced" on the princess during this difficult time in her life.
"Being a public figure does not mean the public owns that person," the Beverly Hills, 90210 alum wrote in a fiery Instagram post on Friday. "We ALL have the right to go thru illness or life privately."
"The onslaught of conspiracy theories, ownership and plain morbid curiosity forced this person to explain herself before she had come to terms with it and explained to her children," Doherty, 52, continued, before adding, "I pray this is a learning moment for us all to respect privacy of others regardless of being in the public eye."

Doherty—who has been on her own cancer journey since she was first diagnosed with breast cancer in 2015—went on to applaud the princess for handling the situation with grace.
"Princess Kate, I admire your strength thru the endless onslaught you've been under while going thru cancer," the Charmed star's post concluded.
And she's not the only public figure who has called for a stop to the media madness surrounding Middleton, as other stars, including Jamie Lee Curtis, have also been outspoken about the situation.
Even before Middleton shared her cancer diagnosis with the world, Curtis slammed the incessant chatter surrounding the princess' whereabouts and wellbeing.
"This is a human being with young children, and clearly some sort of a health issue. That is a private matter," Curtis, 65, wrote on Instagram Friday while imploring the public, "Can we please just STOP."
