Sharon Osbourne Claims She Is ‘Banned in America’ After ‘The Talk’ Departure

Sharon Osbourne, who left The Talk in April 2021, now believes that she is essentially "banned" from working in the U.S. due to the controversy surrounding her statements about racism, Piers Morgan and Meghan Markle.

During an episode of Celebrity Big Brother, the U.K. edition, Osbourne opened up about her opinion about how she is perceived, saying, "I got banned in America. I did nothing wrong."

A housemate, Lauren Simon of The Real Housewives of Cheshire, asked if Osbourne could find jobs in the U.S. "I can legally…but nobody will employ me because they say I am racist," she explained, referring to the incident that caused her to get booted from The Talk.

In response, Simon brought up the fact that Osbourne is Jewish. The 71-year-old replied, "I know, and that’s what I said to them! They think we don’t know what it’s like to be picked on. I wouldn’t pick on anyone because of their race or religion, ever.”

Back in early 2021, Osbourne hosted an episode of The Talk when she brought up her friend Morgan, who faced accusations of racism stemming from comments he made about an interview Markle had with Oprah Winfrey.

"I feel like I'm about to be put in the electric chair because I have a friend, who many people think is a racist, so that makes me a racist?" said Osbourne. "Did I like everything he said? Did I agree with what he said? No. Because it's his opinion. It's not my opinion...I support him for his freedom of speech, and he's my friend."

She continued, "I'm not racist...I don't care what color or what religion anyone is. Are you a nice person? That's what I judge you on."

It got a little heated between Osbourne and fellow host Sheryl Underwood, who questioned the former, "What would you say to people who may feel that while you're standing by your friend, it appears you gave validation or safe haven to something that he has uttered that is racist, even if you don't agree?"

Although Osbourne stood her ground during the episode, she later apologized with a statement saying, in part, "To anyone of color that I offended and/or to anyone that feels confused or let down by what I said, I am truly sorry."

The Talk paused production before announcing in April that Osbourne was officially leaving the show.
