Shawn Mendes Reveals He Wanted to Date Camila Cabello Long Before They Got Together
Shawn Mendes revealed that it took a while for him to start dating Camila Cabello.
The two pop stars have been longtime friends and have known each other for almost five years.
They reportedly started dating right after Camila broke up with Matthew Hussey in June 2019.
Fans have been trying to get Shawn Mendes to open up about how his relationship with Camila Cabello got started and it looks like it wasn't as easy as they might have thought.
During a fan Q+A before one of his shows, Shawn was asked by a fan, "have you ever loved someone who did love you and what did you do?"
While some fans in the audience laughed at the question, Shawn took it in stride and responded that it actually ended up happening at first before he started dating Camila.
"If I told you the whole story of Camila, it would take a long time. I would say that you have to fight for someone you really love. And if you really truly love them, then you'll get them. It just takes time," he said.
Shawn also said that in order for this to work, you have to truly love a person and let them come back to you on their own time.
"But make sure you really love him or her. You just have to make sure," he noted.
It's not completely surprising to hear that it took Shawn longer that he thought to start a relationship with Camila. She was previously dating Matthew Hussey, a professional life and dating coach from February 2018 to June 2019.
Shawn and Camila first met in 2014, when they were a part of the same tour together. They started to date in July 2019, which means that he waited almost five years to start dating. Guess it was worth the wait!
