You Can Shop All of Gabourey Sidibe’s Latest Looks
Gabourey Sidibe may be a gleaming goddess on the cover of Nylon’s April 2017 beauty issue, but her fashion choices are delightfully down to earth.
The Empire actress, who’s making the press rounds of late promoting her soon-to-be-released memoir, This Is Just My Face: Try Not to Stare, epitomizes accessible chic both on the red carpet and in the pages of magazines. All her latest looks are fun and flirty, but also sophisticated. Best of all, they’re from everyday brands you know and love, like Torrid, City Chic, and ASOS — making them both affordable and available to buy now, just in time to give your spring wardrobe a little Sidibe sparkle.
You grab your wallet; we’ll break down the details.

Appearing at SXSW for the first time to participate in a panel discussion about film and the perceptions of women across America, Sidibe walked a festival red carpet in a flowing floral minidress and lace-up heeled sandals from popular plus-size clothing brand Torrid. The Floral Challis Bell Sleeve Dress, which the brand describes as “basically the easiest thing [to wear] ever,” normally retails for $64.90, but is currently on sale for just over $45, so if you’re interested, maybe act fast. To mimic the look entirely, pair with its Cage Lace Up Stacked Block Heels in nude.

Sidibe shared snaps from her recent People shoot on Instagram, but it was her stylist, Marcy Guevara-Prete, who broke down the ensembles for us piece by piece. Telling the magazine, “I see beauty in everyone and everything,” Sidibe posed in a wear-with-anything black fit and flare skirt from City Chic and sheer Tattoo Bodysuit from Chicago-based plus-size clothing brand Blair.

For a soft yet sleek look, Sidibe donned a ruffled, navy blue number from ASOS’ plus-size line, Curve, and while we can’t say for sure, it looks like she (and her stylist, of course) made it her own by wearing it backward. The Soft Ruffle Low Back Skater Mini Dress looks like a million bucks, but retails for only $49, making it the ultimate in affordable everyday elegance. But the tasteful number is already marked “low in stock” on the ASOS site — meaning if you want it, the time to make it happen is now.
As for Sidibe, who recently opened up about her weight-loss surgery, the time to embrace your body and stand up for yourself is also now. “You don’t get to talk about my body if you like it or not; it’s my body,” she told Nylon in the interview that gave her that aforementioned otherworldly cover moment.
Her clothing, on the other hand, is fair — and fairly affordable — game.
