Shop the Headphones Beyoncé Wears in 'Lemonade' — Here's Where to Get 'Em
Beyoncé took the world by storm since Saturday night with the release of her latest album, "Lemonade."Dubbed a visual album, the release includes an hour-long HBO film, which included quite a few fashionable looks worn by Beyoncé. Among her accessories in one of her songs stood out a pair of ultra-premium headphones by Pryma (pronounced "pree-mah," according to the manufacturer).
What You Need to Know
The exquisitely designed Pryma 01 over-ear headphones feature nothing but top-shelf materials that include aluminum, genuine leather, and optional carbon fiber. Each pair of headphones has been handcrafted in Italy by Sonus Faber — a company that's well-known for creating amazing floor and bookshelf speakers with slightly eye-watering price tags.
On the hardware side, the headphones pack a duo of 40-millimeter dynamic audio drivers with frequency response range of 10 to 25,000 Hz, and 32 Ohms of impedance. The headset's sensitivity measures 118 dB.
The Pryma 01 headphones are available in five distinct finishes, including Coffee & Cream, Black, Gold & Dark Gray, Gold & Black, and a special-edition Carbon Marsala — the latter being the color that Beyoncé wore in her video. The headset's headbands are easily swappable, allowing users to mix styles up to their liking.
Each Pryma 01 headset features a 1.3-meter detachable cable with a single-button remote control for smartphones and tablets, as well as a bundled ?-inch adapter for use on pro-grade equipment. The headphones weigh a rather substantial 355 grams.
Live Impressions
Unsurprisingly, the Pryma 01 headphones look stunning in the metal. Their appearance fuses industrial chic with design elements that are typical of high-fashion accessories such as designer shoes, bags, and belts.
The build quality of the headset is exceptional as expected. The Pryma 01 headphones feel solid thanks to the quality of the materials used in their making. Naturally, the headphones also deliver exceptional tactility. Pryma backs the headset with a solid two-year warranty.
We were pleased to find out that the sound quality of the headphones matches their design and finish. The Pryma 01 delivers excellent sonic experience, defined by pleasantly neutral sound signature that's perfect for listening to any type of content.
In order to test the headset's sound chops, we spent hours on Tidal Hi-Fi, listening to a plethora of genres. They range from Beyoncé's "Lemonade," to a playlist of all the legendary songs by Prince, all the way to classical music masterpieces. In line with its manufacturer's reputation, the Pryma 01 delivered a great experience on every occasion.
Rather excessive weight and a difficult fit adjustment are the two negative bits about the Pryma 01 headphones worth mentioning. The former makes the headset a tough sell if you plan to spend more than a couple of hours a day with it, while the latter simply requires a bit of getting used to.
Verdict
The Pryma 01 headphones are as convincing as a fashion statement, as they are as a capable audio product. With a $499 starting price tag ($549 for the Carbon Marsala edition we tested), the headphones are surely not a casual purchase, yet one that well-heeled Beyoncé fans or casual listeners looking for a great pair of headphones will surely enjoy quite a bit. Hey, at the least the price tag is far less than the $9,000 Dolce & Gabanna headphones Rihanna posted herself wearing on Instagram earlier this year!
