New Show Called ‘Murder House Flip’ Is Basically True Crime Meets ‘Fixer Upper’
Home makeover shows are addicting — it's just so fun to watch as designers take on homes of all different sizes, styles, and conditions and work their magic to create what almost feels like a new space. In 2020, we’re super excited to watch the Extreme Makeover: Home Edition reboot, which will air in February on HGTV. But now, there’s another home makeover show on our radar and it’s a little dark.
Murder House Flip, dropping April 2020, is a home makeover show that takes on homes where... yes, murders happened (!!!), reports Today Home. The show is the spooky brainchild of CSI producer Josh Berman, Penny Dreadful producer Chris King, and author Katherine Ramsland.
“We are thrilled to bring this one-of-a-kind series to life and dive into a world that combines America’s two biggest TV obsessions: true crime and home renovation,” said Elyse Seder, senior vice president of alternative and syndicated programming for Sony Pictures Television, in a press release.

The show will include a “colorful cast of forensic specialists, spiritual healers, and high-end renovation experts. [They’ll] uncover the crimes, shocking secrets, and scandalous history of the homes.” While the premise of Murder House Flip is wildly different than most other shows in the home reno genre, the goal remains the same—to create a better, brighter space for the family living there. As the press release states, each renovation project taken on throughout the series aims to bring “healing and solace to families living in the aftermath of tragic events by transforming dark places into healthy spaces.”
Murder House Flip will air on the new streaming platform Quibi, which will launch in April and is expected to deliver “quick bite” episodes. While we’re used to hour-long home renovation specials, these Quibi episodes are expected to last around 10 minutes, which also makes us somehow even more intrigued.
