The Silver Dollar bourbon bar listed for sale, seeks new ownership

The Silver Dollar, a renowned restaurant and bourbon bar, is up for sale.

Current owner Shawn Cantley said in a news release that running the nationally-recognized Frankfort Avenue bar for the past 13 years has been rewarding, but felt it was time to find new ownership for the business.

"I’ll always be a supporter of Silver Dollar, but I think it’s time for fresh leadership as my business partner has left the business and my focus has been on another hospitality project for the past 18 months that will be launching in full soon," Cantley said in the statement.

It was unclear if the listing would affect the bar's operating hours.

According to the release, the restaurant has turned a profit the past eight years, but has seen a decline in sales in the post-pandemic era due to reduced operating hours and staffing challenges.

The restaurant quickly gained notoriety for its Southern-inspired cuisine with a California twist after opening in the historic Albert A. Stoll firehouse in 2011. It's gained several accolades since for its bourbon collection, including being named as one of the 10 Best Whiskey Bars in America by GQ magazine.
