Simone Biles Reminds Internet Trolls She Is Happy With Her Body

It’s a day that ends in y, so you know that means a celebrity had to take to social media to hit back at folks body-shaming them on the Internet. On Tuesday, it was Simone Biles’s turn to respond to people online who had negative things to say about her body — you know, the one that won her five medals at the 2016 Olympics in Rio — four of which were gold.

The world-renowned gymnast posted photos to social media of her on vacation in Belize, posing in short shorts and a white halter top, which exposed her toned back, riding horses, and just enjoying the holidays. Of course, some people just had to offer their thoughts about the 19-year-old’s athletic figure, which prompted Biles to send a message to her haters that their words aren’t about to change how she feels about the way she looks.

“You all can judge my body all you want, but at the end of the day it’s MY body. I love it & I’m comfortable in my skin,” she tweeted.

Comments like “When your abs are the size of your boobs” and “Ur so ugly Simone Biles even I look better than u,” seem to be among the offending quips.

Biles is no stranger to the world of online body-shamers. This summer, she shared a photo of her and her teammates Aly Raisman and Madison Kocian posing on a beach in bikinis, their impressive, ripped midsections on full display. One social media troll @UWantMyD_aniel mocked the image by tweeting, “Y’all find this attractive? lmaaoo.” The fellow was soon set straight by Crystal McDuffy, a fan of Biles, who said, “They’re the best gymnasts in the world. I promise you, they didn’t get those abs to impress your dusty a**.”

After being cast as the love interest in a music video for Jake Miller’s “Overnight,” Biles also had to deal with a backlash from actual racists who had an issue seeing a black woman and a white man together. “Everyone forgets that I have feelings also,” Biles tweeted after the debacle.

Biles doesn’t need to explain or apologize for her gold-medal body — and neither does any other woman.
