Simu Liu will not be narrating Disney's Candlelight Processional as previously scheduled.
"I am absolutely gutted to have to drop out of this year's Candlelight Processional at Disney World," the Marvel actor shared via his Instagram Story on Thursday, Nov. 30.
“For those who were looking forward to seeing me, know that I was equally looking forward to be a part of your holidays,” Liu wrote. “The health of myself and my family are of paramount importance to me,” he said, "After all, that's the spirit of the season!"
"And so after some health scares, I've made the difficult decision to stay home. Something tells me this isn't the last you've seen of me at Candlelight though...let's all keep fingers crossed for 2024!"
Further details on Liu's "health scares" were not immediately available, though the 34-year-old did recently tear his Achilles tendon.
Disney's Candlelight Processional is an annual celebration that allows guests to experience "sights, sounds and flavors of the holiday season." This year, the special event, which tells the story of Christmas through celebrity narrators, orchestra and the Voices of Liberty choir, will be held from Thursday, Nov. 30 through Saturday, Dec. 30.
Liu was set to serve as the 2023 EPCOT Candlelight Processional narrator from Nov. 30-Dec. 2, but now, singer-songwriter Bart Millard has reportedly stepped in to replace the Barbie actor.
“Got the last minute call yesterday to fly to Orlando to narrate the Epcot Candlelight processional tonight, Friday and Saturday,” Millard, 51, wrote on Instagram. “ You don’t have to ask me twice to come tell the story of the birth of Jesus!!!!”
This year's celebrity narrators for the Candlelight Processional also include Chrissy Metz, John Stamos, Eva Longoria, Sterling K. Brown, Brendan Fraser and Neil Patrick Harris.
