Sip n Shop Festival kicks off Thursday
Sep. 3—Songbird Live owner Tom Burkett promises a hopping Thursday night in the eastern portion of downtown delivered courtesy one block, 14 wines and seven shops.
The festival, organized between Burkett and fellow downtown merchants, is one of several late summer and fall events planned by Burkett.
"So it's a wine walk through downtown east," Burkett said. "There will be seven stores participating, all on the same block, including Red Horse Art Gallery. We'll have 14 wines for people to try, which are from local wineries. Cleburne alone has four wineries."
Tickets for the event cost $35.
Sip & Shop kicks off 5:30 p.m. at Songbird Live, 210 E. Henderson St. There attendees will receive a complimentary wine glass and canvas tote bag after which they will head out to visit local shops and enjoy a variety of wines.
"The glasses are etched with the Sip & Shop names and a logo of birds because of Songbird Live," Burkett said.
Get the blues
The fun continues in October with the debut of Block Fest, a planned monthly series of all-day music events. The first installment of which begins 10 a.m. Oct. 12.
"We're calling the first one Bluesfest on the Block," Burkett said. So, great blues music all day long from noon to night time."
