Six-Year-Old South Carolina Boy Uses Savings for Disney World to Help Hurricane Dorian Evacuees

When you're a six-year-old, few things are more magical than a trip to Walt Disney World. But with Hurricane Dorian on the horizon, one youngster wanted to trade his dreams of Dumbo for helping those in need.

On September 8th, Jermaine Bell of Allendale, South Carolina will turn seven. But as the young boy saw evacuees come into town to escape the storm, he knew he wanted to put his Disney World birthday money to good use, reports WJBF News Channel 6. “The people that are traveling to go to places, I wanted them to have some food to eat, so they can enjoy the ride to the place that they’re going to stay at,” Bell told the network.

To that end, Bell gave away chips, water, and hot dogs to as many hurricane evacuees as he could from his small community in the Southwestern part of the state. In total, Bell helped almost 100 evacuees from his post on the side of Highway 125 in Allendale.

“I wanted to be generous and live to give,” said Jermaine.

What a sweet, thoughtful gesture and example this young South Carolina boy set for us all. We know when his time comes to experience the wonderful world of Disney it will be well worth the wait.
