SJP Comments on 'SATC' Costar's Run for Governor
Since Cynthia Nixon announced her candidacy for governor of New York over a week ago, Sarah Jessica Parker has been silent on the matter, but she finally commented and the answer is not quite an endorsement.
“Cynthia has been my friend and colleague since we were little girls. I look forward to talking to her about her New York state gubernatorial bid,” Parker said via her spokesperson Ina Treciokas to Page Six. So basically, this isn't a "yes I'm definitely voting for her" answer, but it seems like a promise to talk about it further.
Nixon will be facing incumbent governor Andrew Cuomo in the democratic primary in September, and if she wins that she'll move onto the general election in November. Her candidacy announcement has sparked plenty of criticism. Former New York City Council speaker Christine Quinn called her an "unqualified lesbian," but later walked back those comments by saying it was more about Nixon's lack of qualifications than her sexuality.
In contrast to Parker's comments, other SATC cast members are singing Nixon's praises. Kristin Davis, who played Charlotte, said that she knows Nixon "would be an excellent governor!"
Willie Garson, who played Stanford Blatch said "I cant think of anyone who's more prepared, more caring, more educated on the issues and more READY..."
Even Kim Cattrall, who has been feuding with her former costars for months now, tweeted this not-so-subtle diss that maybe serves as a nod of support? Unsure, TBH.
Regardless of what the other cast members have to say, this is definitely not the last we'll hear about this, knowing this crew.
